This is my letter to the Minister of Natural Resources On the prososed mega quarry.
Hello my name is Brandon Fayer, i have grown up in ontario i am currently 19 years of age. I strongly dissagree with th the pruposed limstone quarry.
First of all, destroying 2300 acres of Canada’s best farm land that cannot be replaced or undone after it is destroyed…as Minister of Natural Resources you must be able to see that the natural resource that is there is far more valuable than limestone in the long run.
Sure the company says it will pump the water back to where it should be and into the wells..this is ridiculous and a waste of energy! When the company has gotten what they want do you really think they will continue to pump the water when they leave? No. Guess who gets to pay for that!? Yep, thats right! the government (aka our tax money). What happens when fuel prices go crazy and we can’t afford to do that? The surrounding area becomes unferitle, useless for growing. At this point food prices are driven up by fuel prices and yet we won’t be able to import all the food we used to, because gas prices are too high…so we think “hey, why did we destroy what great farmland we once had?” Local food production is so important on so many levels.
It may not affect use now but, it will have a huge impact in the future, and we have to think about the generations to come as well.
Sincerely,
Brandon Fayer
